On December 7, 1941 Japanese planes attacked the United States Naval Base at Pearl Harbor, Hawaii Territory. The bombing killed more than 2,300 Americans. It also completely destroyed the American battleship U.S.S. This attack led the US to enter WWII. The Japanese planned the attack to be a preventative action to keep the US from interfering in military actions in Southeast Asia. The day after the attacks, the US declared war Japan.
