2016 Concert Music: Rejoice the Season!: At first glance this song looks fairly simple. It has a lot of high notes but I usually don't have a problem hitting those. The first time we played it I wasn't so sure how it went a t first but I figured it out. I was suprised at how well I could sight read it. I got very lost towards the end and didn't play because I didn't know how to play it or how it went. How The Grinch Stole Christmas Concert Medley: At first glance this song looks like it has a lot of slurs. At measure 22 there is a lot of staccato'd notes that I hope will sound cool when we play it. Once In Royal David's City: At first glance this song looks somewhat simple. Measures 35 and 36 kind of caught my eye. There is a couple key changes throughout the song which makes it a little more of a challenge to memorize becuase I have to remember that B isn't always flat throughout the song. Christmas Eve/Sarajevo 12/24: At first glance this song looks easy. But when you get around measure 139-151 it has a lot of sharps that are marked in and I have a feeling that it will become difficult if the song goes fast.
Pep Band Reflection: This year in Pep Band I showed up to every game and played. I feel that I deserve an A for my Pep Band performance because I showed up to every game, helped Ms. Chase when she asked what songs we would be able to play, and also I played to the best of my ability when I was there. I feel that Pep Band is a nice break for the band. I don't think that it is such an important element that if it was gone we would be super upset and quit band, but it would still be missed. Plus it helps give us a little more school spirit when it comes to our basketball teams. My top 3 Pep Band songs are probably Wipe Out, Land Of 1000 Dances, and Newark Fight Song because we have/ have been playing these songs for a while and I could almost play them with my eyes closed. My bottom 3 Pep Band songs are I Get Around, Don't Stop Believin', and Rubber Duckie because I haven't played them enough to know remember exactly how the rhythm goes. I think I improved the most on All I Do Is Win in measures 17-21 because this is the first time that I have had to play a group of notes that are all that high for a couple measures at a time. If I could add any song to Pep Band it would be Paradise City by Guns n Roses because it is a very common song and I feel it wouldn't be that hard to learn and it would sound cool, plus Mr. Hall would love the band for playing a GnR song.
